‘The Warrior Lady- ‘Rani Lakshmi Bai’ 3D animated film

‘The Warrior Lady- ‘Rani Lakshmi Bai’ 3D animated film

Manish Tandon
Based in Mumbai and Founded by Manish Tandon, Honey Interactive animation, a department of Honey International, since 2010, has been delivering services in designing, animation and implementation of full-service digital solutions for companies.
This studio has finished the production of their 3D animated film titled ‘The Warrior Lady- ‘Rani Lakshmi Bai’ that will bring awareness about this historic ideal among the young generation and are presently looking out for a distributor for this film.
The life story of Rani inspired this studio to move forward towards composing a 90 mins 3D animation movie in Hindi language, using the Autodesk 3D Max software. Directed by Gajender Shortraya, this movie targets the age group between 5-15 years, who are fond of watching cartoons and animated movies.
The characters of this movie revolve around Rani Lakshmi bai, King Gnagadhar Rao, Raghunath Singh, Jawahar Singh, Gulam Gauss Khan, Sanghar Singh, Major Ellis and Hugh Henry Rose.Rani’s character is represented in the full fledged form of her being an excellent horse rider, who practiced with weapons. Her sacrifice and courageous fight against the British Raj will surely drill the society to move their eyes towards the ‘regiment’ of women.
22 artists of this studio have worked for a total of 3 years on this movie, but it was not at all a cake walk for as the team visited Jhansi to research about the life of Rani. The only primary source, from which this studio managed to get extensive information, was by interacting with the inhabitants of Jhansi along with analyzing two books written by Vrindavanlal Varma and Tripti Roy.
They didn’t just stick to this resource, but even set out on a field trip to Jhansi, visited the fort and captured the photos of the different corners of the town. This in turn helped them to ideate the traditional set up for this movie including the construction of varied 3D elements including the fort and city wall..
In order to know more about this movie, AnimationXpress.com’s Nicole Fernandes asked Manish Tandon, Creative Head and Co-producer, Honey Interactive, as to how did they come up with the idea of working on this concept and he comments”
“The main crux of this movie lies in bringing out Rani Lakshmi bai as a National Heroine and an epitome of female bravery. This movie is made keeping in mind the concept of sending a message to the women that they are not an inferior race but they too can dare to dream and accomplish their goal by a strong willpower inbuilt.”
Talking more about the challenge, he informs, “Constructing the characters of this movie was a tedious task for us, as we didn’t have a proper picture of Rani Lakshmi bai.”.
Adding more on this, Pawan Lahotiya, Producer, Honey Interactive, says, “The creation of reality into fantasy is designed keeping in mind the true story of Rani Lakshmi Bai which will attract kids to get interested in history as well.
When Manish was asked about the look and feel of this movie, he confidently said, “My team has tried to enhance the historical value of this film through 3D animated characters and we believe that we’ve managed to achieve remarkable International standard.”
The studio is trying its level best to convince a well known celebrity to lend voice for Rani’s character and is also in talks with a famous lyricist for to pen the songs.
Once this movie connects with the Indians audiences, it will also release around the globe in 70 languages. This studio hasn’t just stopped at this, but are also currently engaged in creating two E-Comic series titled ‘THE BIRTH OF HANIMAN’ and ‘MAMA MALANG’.
